IUKWC Workshop: Safe and Sustainable Technologies and Strategies for Integrated Freshwater Resource Management

mysuru workshop

The IUKWC Workshop was held at the JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSSAHER), Mysuru, India, and concluded on the 28th of June, 2019. It was led by Dr Shivaraju H Puttaiah, JSSAHER, and Dr David Jenkins, University of Plymouth.

The four-day workshop aimed to further the development of sustainable strategies, urgently needed in India, which also have global impact, to tackle long term provision of good quality water for drinking and food production.

The workshop drew both early and experienced researchers, NGOs and Indian government officers who are active in various aspects of freshwater resource research, innovation, management, and planning.

Over 45 delegates from India and the UK, presented their research and experiences, and explored innovative approaches and technologies for assessing, treating, and managing water within the Water Food Energy Nexus. They were tasked with identifying the key problems, gaps, and challenges for moving either technology, research, or management forward, as well as begining the process of co-creating new proposals and/or papers and to develop collaborative networks that are primed to take on upcoming funding opportunities in the area.

The workshop is a part of IUKWC ‘Lead a Workshop’ initiative. For more information on the workshop see here.
